Fairly simplistic. If two ships collide, damage to the armor and eventually hull is inflicted based upon the mass and speed of the ships involved.
Ships with higher mass receive less damage then those with smaller mass, and ships with very large masses sustain large damage.
This is a very good idea to nerf bumping games in my opinion.
Thoughts.

Umm...what? People bump ships all the time.
Common use for bumping ships.
-POS bowling -Prevent Docking -Prevent Warping -Decloak
Decloak is possibly the only legit excuse for bumping on that list that I see.

you won eve!
I never said bumping resulted in agression.
Quote: 2. FC orders complete fleet undocking. in the first 5km all the ships rub so badly against each other that half of the fleet is already destroyed and the pods killed from all that damage.
I never undock with a fleet all at once from inside the same station. I don't know anybody that does.
In anycase, easily solved by having multiple lanes of undocking from the undocking point.
Quote: 3. fleet warping to the gate. all the ships form that ball and rub each other to death when coming out of warp.
Form what ball? A fleet emerges from warp in proximity to each other from when they started warp. Next time don't warp so close.
Very good anti-blob warfare.
Besides, I highly doubt you'd "Rub together so much you'd die" considering when you come out of warp you're basically stopped.
Ever thought of that?
Quote: 4. i sit on gate, you come out of warp and bump into me. concord wtfpwns you again.
Who says Concord agresses?

There is absolutely no way this tactic would be prefered over smartbombing.

i cant see that not going to be abused. :D
Concord can aggress if the ship is destroyed. I honestly don't see the problem, any ship that would 'take advantage' of this mechanic would need to be very large and very fast.
I don't see a problem.

Increase the mass of freighters then.
Quote: and if you would have read my example, then you would have noticed that i said you destroyed my ship.
I did read it. This could be solved by having more then one path that exits from a station.
Quote: when undocking or warping to a gate you often cant control where you fly along and what you hit. and might get killed by concord for something you didnt want or couldnt control!
Multiple exit points. Along with each exit point having 2 or so lanes of exit. Possibly in large systems like Jita 4-4 have it so that ships are exited from the station one at a time, nothing very slow, just a second or so delay between each ship.
How about this? Ships only aggress by Concord if a ship hits hull.
Quote: and I tell you how freighter ganking will work with your idea. just a few plated BS and BCs bumping the freighter until it goes pop. they dont even have to warp scramble the freighter as the constant bumping will knock him out of alignment all the time.
1. People bump to stop alignment already. 2. I seriously don't see how bumping would take out a freighter faster then smartbombs or alphaing.
Quote: so why would this potentially killing damage special and wouldnt cause concord aggression?
How about only aggress when hull is reached?

You've never flown a Dread have you
No. If Dread pilots do that, whatever. Since all the pilots are traveling in the same direction at the same speeds damage would be minuscule anyways.

Look, while it might sound great to a guy who plays solo a lot in empire its a rotten idea on so many levels its not funny.
1. More collision calcs = more lag
Everyone complains that everything causes lag. I hear so much whining about lag that I'm not too inclined to believe it.
Quote: 2. Any time a friendly ship gets close to you = damage. You really haven't taken part in Fleet warfare at all have you. Have you ever travelled by Titan bridge & bumped the Titan in your Inty ? I thought not.
I do participate in fleets, and I know people get bumped. A system like this would force people to be aware of their surroundings and force them to be conscious of team mates. This would also effectively end the blob (Or nerf it considerably).
No I have not traveled by Titan bridge. But people already want to increase bridge range so I don't see why that can't be done.

again ... your proposal should at least honor the basic game mechanics. if you need special conditions, it is flawed already.
Did you even reread my proposal?
Jesus.

I don't think so. Since the modified proposal makes in implicitly impossible to kill somebody unless you intentionally approach them.
There is no such thing as 'Accidentally bumped to death'
